The G-Force Putting League

With disc golf on the rise in Maine, and with the increase in popularity of the sport we here at G-Force Laser Tag have created "The G-Force Putting League”. We look forward to furthering the reach and awareness of this growing sport by allowing players from all over Maine to centralize and enjoy the game right here in our store in The Marketplace at Augusta. Our goal is to foster and facilitate future generations of players while at the same time providing veterans and professional players a place to keep honing their skills.  Thanks to the sponsorship provided by Innova® Disc Golf it allows us to present a polished, professional, and fun atmosphere.

Putting League Days

The league will take place 2 days a week. One day will be a singles format and the other a random draw doubles format. On singles nights players should have at least one putter to use, though we recommend having 5. On doubles nights players will need at least 2 putters per player. (Players who do not have enough putters or are just starting out, we will be fully stocked and have putters for sale thanks to our sponsors at Innova®.) The league is starting March 4 2018; this is our first night beginning with singles. The following Tuesday will be our random Draw Doubles league. The G-Force Putting League will consist of 2 sessions of 25 weeks each year.

(Singles league will be on Sundays, Doubles league will be on Tuesdays.)

The singles and doubles leagues will have prizes and scores separate from each other. We have no age restrictions on our putting league! All ages are encouraged to play but most of our players will be between 16+. There is currently only 1 bracket for both nights.

Rules

SINGLES FORMAT

1. Each round is 5 putts from each of the 5 stations, 3 rounds in the entire session.

2. Each station’s putt is worth that station number (station 1 = 1 point per made putt, station 2 = 2 points per made putt)

3. Not required to play stations in order, but all 5 must be completed before next round starts.

4. 75 total points available each round, 225 for the entire session.

5. Players will turn their cards in at the end of each session to the league director.

6. Each league night will have a winner based off of total points scored. A record will be kept from each league night where points scored will go toward a session winner.

DOUBLES FORMAT

All registered players will putt a mini a bucket. 2 minis will be drawn at a time with owners of those minis being a team.If there’s an uneven number of players registered, an organizer may join in, or there might be a lone wolf (Cali). Decisions will be made at the time of event.

Setup:

A putting lane consists of two opposing baskets 30' apart. **Note that it’s inside the “circle” – jump putts are not allowed** Two teams per lane (4 players), one player on each basket (two players on each side). First to throw will be decided on by disc flip, and will remain constant for the entire match.

Scoring:

Two putters are thrown.

2 in = 3

1 in = 1

First to 11 wins, must win by 2.

If a team wins on a round, both players on the throwing side must complete the round, (finish the side).

Odd Team Bye:

If there is an uneven number of teams, one team will get a bye. With the exception of the first round, bye teams are automatically chosen based on being in the losing half of the bracket (only teams with losing records will be chosen).

The bye team will get a freebie win. It’s not completely free, as the bye win will not count as much as an earned win in the tiebreaker difficulty score.

Turns:

Each turn consists of teams alternating throws from one basket to the other, where their partners will be.

Alternate Throws: Team 1 throws, and then Team 2 throws. Repeat.

Then the Team members from the other side throw.

Rounds:

There will be 6 rounds to determine the top 2 teams.

If two teams are tied in record AND tiebreak score (as determined by the difficulty of opponents faced), there will be a last chance qualifier tie breaker.

Any teams tied for second will playoff in a “down and back” round.

Each team gets their own lane, so one lane per team. each player from the team will line up on the SAME side of the basket. They putt, their teammate putts, they putt, their teammate putts. Scoring is the same as a round (3pts for 2, 1pt for 1). Then they both shoot back, for a maximum of 12 points.

The team with the most points moves on to the Championship Round. If teams are tied after coming back, go down and back until the tie is broken.

Championship Round:

The top two teams will face off in center court, using the same rules in the round – except the game ends at 15 instead of 11.

Singles league winners will be chosen based of total points scored after the three rounds of that nights league.

Each league night score will be kept track of throughout the session to crown our singles league champion.

Doubles league will be kept track of in a bracket format. With the team who defeats there opposing team moving on until there is a champion.

Doubles league will be a nightly winner with no session league champions as it is a day to encourage growth of players with randomly drawn teams.

In the event of a tie there will be a sudden-life playoff.

With the start of G-Force Putting League we have received support from some of the top companies within the Disc Golf Community. These companies have given us prizes for weekly giveaways, Prizes for session winners and cool perks for participants. Players will also be competing for a cash prize each week which will be paid to the top 3rd of participants.

We encourage players bring their own putters to participate but G-Force will have a selection of discs for sale.

The one thing we want to do here at G-Force is promote the sport and better players who need a helping hand. The Maine disc golf scene is a very welcoming and tight knit community who has great players available to help anyone new to disc golf or a player who is looking to improve a certain aspect of their game. We will also be reaching out to touring pros to get clinics set up for players so that we can meet and learn from the sports top touring professionals. Disc golf is the fastest growing sport that offers great exercise, low cost to play and compete and is an all-around great and exciting sport to be a part of. we want to be a part of this positive community and grow the sport that we all love.

You do not have to participate every week, although it is strongly encouraged especially for our singles league night as we will be keeping a running score total for the sessions with the highest points accrued will win a session champion prize. League nights will be $20 dollars to participate with half of the participation fee going to nightly payouts and prizes.

Disc golf Putting leagues are very safe as discs will not be being thrown hard as they would be on a disc golf course. We do have to say that it is a simple as being aware of your surroundings for flying discs if they go astray.

We at G Force want a fun and inviting atmosphere for our players. We will have music playing, drinks and snacks available. We also have some exciting plans to utilize a Rock N' Golf night where we will be using our black light set ups to add a fun mix of something you don’t get every day.

Therefore, thanks to our partnership with Innova® Disc Golf our players will have access to some of the most sophisticated and elegantly designed discs available on the market today.   At G-Force Laser Tag we are always stretching the limits and looking towards the future.  Through our partnership we look forward to bringing players of all demographics forward into the future with us thanks to the contributions of Innova®.   All players will have access to the same stellar technology that makes their products so revolutionary right here in our store.
